An update long due - ATL Installation

Pardon the hiatus but with SPM breathing (ooooh its foul stench) down your neck, finding spare time to update the blog was an onerous task.

July 13 2011 - ATLs Installation

What better way to go out if not with a feast? Buckets of fried chicken and mee hoon were brought out to commemorate another auspicious end of a scouting year. However prior to the blowout, speeches were given by incumbent scouters and seniors before the official pass-down.

Three awards were given out :

1. The Best Boy scout [Bone-Trophy] awarded to BS Salihin

 2. The Best Patrol [ BP Trophy] awarded to Lion Patrol led by PL Peter Lai
( Lions' victory broke the streak of Eagle Patrol after a good three years - 08'09'10')

3. The Best PL [aka Green-Shield] awarded to PL Vallalar

Not to forget; Puan Maheran, our teacher advisor

MIA : TL Izzad, ASPL Nik Amirul, ASPL Eddie Siew
We would like to thank all those who made the scouting year a success especially our teacher advisors Puan Maheran, Encik Sandhra, Puan Fatma, Puan Asrima and Mr Syahrul. Only with their help and guidance did we manage to get through the year (despite certain 'officials' who tried to bring the movement down with their ruse and malicious ploys). Also not to forget sponsors and well wishers who made possible the Kinabalu Expedition and our 102nd Anniversary Campfire.

Hopefully the years to come will be favorable to troop and bring greater triumphs!

Best Patrol - Lion
Front (L-R) : Hafiz, Sreivan, Syed, Zarin
Back (L-R) : Lim, PL Peter, Luqman

Eagle Patrol - (the patrol that lost its streak :3)

Back (L-R) : Muthu, PL Vallalar
MIA : APL Huzair

In case you're wondering, this is NOT the full troop. A mere one third :3

VI 108th Sports Day - 2nd July 2011

On the morning of the 2nd, the 1Malaysia run was held nationwide. The VI Green was used as the starting point of the run. Schools from around the district gathered at 7.00am. After a speech by the Head of Co curricular activities, the run began. It was only a brief run as the route took the students from the VIOBA clubhouse to the front gate. Most didn't even break a sweat. Though so, the run served its symbolic purpose; encourage every Malaysian student to get involved in sports (1Malaysia 1Sukan).

At 2.40pm, the opening ceremony began with the usual parade inspection. Guest Of Honour, Encik Hamdi Bin Jaafar (Bekas Atlet Negara, Ex-VI 84'), accompanied by Principal, Encik Maslan inspected the V.I.C.C (Cadet Corps) lines.

All videos were taken by Hanifah H. Credits to him.

Next, the house and uniform unit contingents began marching. First KL lead the uniformed contingents followed by Second KL and so on. Below is a video. The flag was held by TL Izzad Sulaiman.

Once every contingent gathered in front of the tracks, the pledge was read by Victor Ludorum, Putera Shafiq Shah.

Next was the flag raising ceremony. The Championship flag was raised by FirstKL's very own Senior Scouts, SS Amir Azman and SS Ridhwan Razak. This was accompanied by the school song played by the V.I Cadet Corp Band.

After the opening ceremony ended, the contingents returned to their respective tents.

Campfire Slideshow!

For those who didn't get a chance to view the slideshow during the campfire, it has been uploaded into

youtube. Please enjoy. There is an excerpt on the scout den inside (3:37 - 5:08).

The Night before the Campfire (24 June 2011)

Ah, the night before. Every single aspect of the campfire must be finalized. Performances, chairs, tables,

bonfire wood, gadget ; it all boils down to this one night. It has to be perfect before the show.

Few worked on the gadget, few made wedges on the bonfire wood, loud music came from the band

practice room and the boy scouts busy themselves making sure the sketch was flawless. Every single

member of the First KL Scout Group were occupied. How can one slack off when the pride of the group is

at stake?

Band practice.

Campfire Prep (22nd June)

The few days leading to campfire would naturally be the busiest of times. While the boyscouts practice

their opening act and sketch till late into the evening, the Seniors spent time building the gadget.  Check

out the video at the end of the post.
