FirstKL went with a contigent of 18 boys. We arrived at the camp site late into the evening (8pm). The Camp Commandant (En YUSMAN) announced the itenary for the day (which was mainly eating and setting camps).

Next was the Lintas Berhalangan. There three obstacles in total. Tiring yet quite exciting. We arrived back covered in mud.
Right after lunch, the next agenda , Iktiar Hidup (AKA cooking comp) started. We were given ingredients (fish, eggs etc.) and no specific instructions on what to cook. Therefore the dishes were entirely up to us. Marks were given based on taste and creativity.
Setting up |
Puan Elly, one of the judges |
Make shift chopping board |
We made three fires to speed up the cooking process |
Uncomplete : Omellette with sausage / chopped up fish served with chili |
Soaking wet |
We spend the next two hours in the hall. While waiting, we made hot cups of Milo with the sachets we manage to salvage before the rain.
Meanwhile, the PLs checked if our tents were securely closed (in the rain). They were seen pitching other tents (not 1stKLs) that had fallen due to the wind by En YUSMAN. He later announced of their deed to the hall. This was met with applause from everyone.
We came back to see that our tent (8-men nicknamed 'The Bungalow') had fallen. We made quick work restoring and cleaning 'The Bungalow'.
The camp grounds were infested with millipedes and worms. After another meal, the teachers decided that they will work on finding a new place for us to sleep in.
Here we are seen back at the hall for the umpteenth time. Clearly the huge fee markup from RM45 (previous year) to RM70 went to catering. Rice was served for every meal.
Spirits were down due to mishap earlier on. Even the enticing meal was not enough to lift us back to our previous state.
not 1stKL |
But the 1stKL boys were used to sleeping like sardines in a can (GTKYC etc.) so we did not fret.
After they placed their bags (some didnt bother to bring bags into the dorm - like us) we went into the other side of the dining hall otherwise known as the forbidden zone. The teachers (or as en YUSMAN told us refer to them as - Jurulatihs) ate there but the tables were removed to make space for the next agenda - Malam Kebudayaan.
Each unit performed their sketches that had to be based upon a moral value. Songs and dances were also incorporated. At around 12, we returned to our dorms to sleep.
There were no more competitions the next day. We were briefed on the jungle trek that we had to go through. It was a fourty minute trek into heavy vegetation and back. We travesed across waist-deep swamps and up-and-down slippery slopes.
Lastly, they announced the results for the agendas. 1stKL won 2nd in Iktihar Hidup and 3rd for Sahsiah.
The hamper was shared out between the boys. (no pictures due to cam malfunction).
All went well.
